A new Call for Applications for the position of Sharaka Researcher has been released. The project is looking for a researcher with an expertise on energy policy, energy economics or international energy studies to spend three months – January-March 2013 – in Paris at the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l’Energie (OME). The aim of the training programme is to establish closer links among EU and GCC research and academic institutions.
The second Sharaka commentary is now online. Emanuela Menichetti presents the possible areas of cooperation between the EU and the GCC in terms of fighting climate change. Menichetti underlines the complementary of gas emission profiles of the two regions. She also highlights that, within the Joint Action Programme for 2010-2013, there is room for manoeuvre with regards to climate change policy. Finally, it is noted that the next UN Climate Conference, to be held in Doha, provides an important incentive for the GCC to move towards a more ecologically sustainable profile.
